Our Kensington community engagement event was a success, we had a great turn out and fantastic weather too. The aim of the event was to inform residents and business owners about the progress of ongoing civil engineering works on the A57 in Kensington.

The event featured an open forum – welcoming questions about the works undertaken by HA Civils and Huyton Asphalt. We also wanted to celebrate the close-knit community and create a fun filled day for children.

We created a mini construction site where children could dig for buried treasure in the sandpit. Our skilled staff built the sandpit especially for Kensington Fields Community Centre (ran by KFCA) and are sure the local children will make great use of it in the future! The other big hit of the day was our large dumper truck bouncy castle which went down a treat with the kids.

HA Civils Managing Director Tony Carney said of the Engagement Event;

“I’m delighted we could host this positive event whilst having the opportunity to update residents and the community on the great progress we have made on this project and our wider works in the Kensington area.”

Danny Gordon, Liverpool City Council’s Head of Highways and Transportation and Fernando Nunez Veiga also from Liverpool City Council, visited us and were impressed at the number of people in attendance and the smooth running of the event.

We were additionally paid a visit by Labour Councillors Nick Small and Maria Toolan, who were interested in the progress of the scheme.

The A57 scheme is part of Liverpool City Council’s £500m highway investment programme – Better Roads, which is scheduled to run until Winter 2019. The scheme consists of replacing the existing road surface on the A57, which has deteriorated over the years, and upgrading highway drainage, pedestrian facilities, footways and traffic signals. Both HA Civils and Huyton Asphalt are working collaboratively to deliver the project, in association with AECOM, who are the designated designers of the scheme.

We are always glad to have the opportunity to build relationships with local communities and look forward to our next Community Engagement event!
